Mexican licenses online; be sure you have one

In case you were not aware, on-line Mexican licenses are now available at this link: www.bestbajafishing.org/fishing-permits.php and they are also available in Cabo at tackle shops like Minerva's. The cost of online licenses, good for 12 months at the time of purchase, is about $35. You can also purchase licenses for the day or week.

To start, either click on the link or copy the address to your search engine, and the Best Baja site will come up. Click on Fishing Permits ("click here to start the process"). Click on the U.S. flag for English if needed. Type in a valid e-mail address, and then click on "Register." Leave the "password" area blank. The form will appear and type in the needed information. When it asks for your "state" just leave in No Mexicano to fill that void. The rest is easy, and create a simple password you'll remember. Go back up to the top and click on "Save Information." A message will be sent to your e-mail. When you click on that e-mail, open the link and type in your e-mail address and password. It will then run you through the process of buying the proper license and paying for it online.

At the Nov. 3-6 Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot Tournament, there will also be a fisheries service official at the captain's meeting/check-in on Nov. 3 from about 3:30 to 5:50 at the Tesoro Hotel pool area. Again, it's best to get them prior to the event you can get licenses in the U.S., at tackle shops, online, or in Mexico at Minerva's.
