TESORO THE HOST HOTEL FOR JACKPOT

Room rates of $50 to $79 for rooms offered to tourney anglers at
11th annual Cabo Tuna Jackpot slated for Nov. 4-7

CABO SAN LUCAS -- "Play Hard, Party Harder" is the slogan for the 11th annual Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot, the biggest and richest tuna tournament in the world, slated this year for Nov. 4-7, 2009. The Tesoro Hotel is again the host Hotel and received rave reviews last year. This year, the hotel rates for their newly renovated rooms are low, low, low.

PLAY HARD, PARTY HARDER is the mantra for 2009's Tuna Jackpot, Nov. 4-7.

The rooms for one or two people (queen bed) with a city view are $50, a deluxe marina view room for one or two people ( king size) is $64, and a junior suite with marina view with two queen beds is $79 for two people and $104 for three and $129 for four people. Taxes are not included, which are $17 per night per room.

"That is a fantastic rate for this renovated hotel right on the marina that is close to many of the tourney events and the town itself and its fishing boats," said Tournament Director Pat McDonell. "We've been working with the Tesoro for months now to host the captain's party and check-in and to offer a low rate for our group. The sponsors and staff stayed at the hotel last year, and it got rave reviews for the its updated, modern rooms and outstanding service."

To book, you can call the hotel in Cabo from the U.S. at 011 52 624 1739300. Tell them you are booking for the Tuna Jackpot. Note: The rates are good several days before and after the event (Oct. 29-Nov. 14 for flexibility in booking. The website for online booking is www.tesororesorts.com and the promo code for the rates is TUNAJK. The direct link to the reservation for the Tuna Jackpot is https://reservations.synxis.com/LBE/rez.aspx?Hotel=18721&Chain=5150&group=TUNAJK

The special rate is good for both tourney entrants and family. No meals are included with the rate, and the hotel no longer offers all-inclusive plans. The rate is based on the Peso-Dollar conversion at 13-to-1. It can change either way in the next six months, so book now.

REEL RUM'S 244-pound yellowfin was the third biggest fish of the Tuna Jackpot's 10-year history.

Note that in term of convenient meals, the Tesoro does have a restaurant and bar on the second floor at the pool level, a beautiful Aura spa, a FREE workout room with a view of the marina, and a free shuttle to its affiliated beachfront club. The hotel is a convenient tourney home base for several reasons.

"Tesoro is our official host hotel and will be the venue for the captains meeting and check-in on the pool patio on Wednesday, and also the Thursday Fiesta below on the Malecon. Also, the Rock and Roll Party will be at Squid Roe on Friday, and the club is a few blocks away," said event director Pat McDonell. "The Tesoro is a great, central venue for the event, close to the nightlife and the top restaurants. This year's event will be much easier on the wallet this year. Airfare rates are also down.

"In fact, the entire tourney is amazingly inexpensive when you consider two people can stay at hotel for $50 a night and enter the tourney at $700 a team to get into four parties, $150,000 in drawings, and it includes a lot of free gifts at check-in that this year will be worth $150 for each person. The airfare is also much less this year, said McDonell."

This past year, the 10th annual , the Tuna Jackpot enjoyed a great week in Cabo with the biggest-ever payout for a team by Bottom Line at $267,000 with two big fish over two days, a 244 pounder by Reel Rum the second day, the third biggest tuna in the event's history at 244 pounds, a record amount of money raised for charity, $27,000, and there were FOUR great parties.

SIGN UP TO STAY at the Jackpot host hotel the Tesoro, with outstanding nightly rates starting at $50 a night. The Tesoro pool and patio areas will play host to the massive check-in and captains party on Wednesday. Shaded tents, a live band, drawing prizes and free sponsors gifts will be part of the first day's fun.

"It may have been smaller than in past years with 97 teams with a tough economy and skyrocketing airfares, but it was the most fun. People came to compete and party and forget about the economy for a week, and that's the spot to do it," said McDonell. "People point to this event as the one to come to each year because it's fun and a chance to win money and prizes in a lot of ways over four days and four nights.

The official website for the WON/Yamaha Los Cabo Tuna Jackpot at www.loscabostunajackpot.com is updated with new rules, signup sheet and schedule.

There are a few changes for this year. The Costa Del Mar captain's meeting will be moved from the Puerto Paraiso mall across the marina to the entire Tesoro Hotel pool patio while the two weigh-ins and awards dinner will remain at the mall area, said McDonell. The new Thursday Yokohama Fiesta at Solomon's Landing on the malecon will be back by popular demand.

"We plan to crank up the fun at the captains meeting at the Tesoro, which is the official Cabo hotel of the tourney," said McDonell. "It's a far cry from the old Hotel Plaza Las Glorias where we began the event 11 years ago. It got rave reviews from people who stayed here in November, including me. Great staff, clean, new rooms and views of the marina from every room. We want to bring one of the events to the hotel to show it off, and it will be far more convenient for us to stage it there."

At the Captains Meeting at the Tesoro's pool area overlooking the marina, said McDonell, a live band will play for three hours, cocktail tables and chairs will surround the huge pool deck before the meeting starts so people can drink and swim and relax while the check-in takes place under several huge tents at the massive patio behind the bar.

THE ROOMS AT THE TESORO are all renovated with the latest in furnishings and air conditioning and lighting. Most rooms have marina views.

"The entire second floor patio and pool area will be ours, and will hold several hundred people, the band will be playing, the beer will be flowing and when the Costa Del Mar Captains Party begins with free drawings the sun will be setting for a great kickoff for four days of partying and competition."

One other venue change is the Rock and Roll Party Friday, sponsored by Reactor Watches.

"Squid Roe is the new venue, and we'll have food, a free drink at the door, a live band and I promise it will be a great time to relax, sit (until dancing starts at 9:30 or so), eat and  win some amazing drawing prizes. It will be a perfect party spot after two days of fishing," said McDonell. "I expect us to be well over 100 teams next year, and we'll be promoting the event on both sides of the border, overseas and on the East Coast as well. This year we had teams from six countries, including Ireland, England, France and Germany. Those people came to fish hard and party harder."

The entry form is now updated on the website, as well as the rules. Actually, there is one rule change, brought my popular demand.

"The dorado/wahoo and tuna minimum size will be 30 pounds both days, as per a request by many teams to have that across-the-board consistency because all three species are backup species," said McDonell. "Having different minimums was confusing, and that's reason enough to change it."
