$750,000 CABO TUNA JACKPOT 2008!

It's the 10th anniversary and the entry is still just $700 a team; Dorado/Wahoo Jackpot is back, a fourth party has been added, so plan your attack for partying and competing in world's richest jackpot tuna tourney, slated for Nov. 5-8

CABO SANLUCAS -- The 10th annual Western Outdoor News Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot Tournament is ready to roll, and the question is, are you? This is the 10th annual running of the five-day event and it's as much a party as it is a competition, with three nightly events and drawings, two weigh-ins, more than $500,000 in payouts and it's held in Cabo, the party capital of Mexico.

HELICOPTER HELLO FROM CABO Once again, this year's Tuna Jackpot will be filmed from land, and water by Duhart Productions. Look for your boat at the shotgun start in the $20 commemorative DVD of the event which be pre-sold at the captains meeting. There will 45 minutes of footage detailing the shotgun starts, the parties, the weigh-in, awards, interviews and results. The $20 covers the cost of producing and mailing the DVD

Mexicana returns as the official airline sponsor (book early to lock in best rates, they suggest), and the refurbished Tesoro is the official hotel of the event where the staff will be housed and special tourney rates are offered. Solman's Landing restaurant will again cater the party at Cabo Wabo, and the Eat Me Lure ladies and Corona Girls will be in attendance.

The daily schedule will remain the same as last year's, as will all five optional tuna jackpots, including the immensely popular Dorado/Wahoo Optional that in its first year paid out more than $75,000 to one team last year. Book your plans around Nov. 5-8.

Fishing days again will be Thursday and Friday, the 6th and 7th. The basic entry fee? Still $700 a team, which includes hat, shirt, sponsors gifts, entry to nightly parties and those huge drawings, the Cabo Wabo nightclub party (free drink, food and dancing and drawings) and a shot at $50,000 for finishing first, second or third in the overall over two days. If you want to gamble on our ability for more serious money, there's the daily optionals.

Said Tuna Jackpot Director Pat McDonell, "People had a great time last year, especially at the Friday Cabo Wabo Rock and Roll party. We had seven teams win serious money, and the people loved the new $1,000 Dorado/Wahoo optional. And after two years of people just looking at the $5,000 daily, a lot of teams are seeing that optional and $3,000 optional as the ones with the best odds of winning serious money because few teams enter it, and you only compete against those teams."

There is also a fourth nightly party in the works, a sit-down buffet on the malecon in front of the refurbished Tesoro Hotel, official hotel of the Tuna Jackpot, and Soloman's Landing Restaurant.

"We'll have more details on it when it's all set, but we'll make it comfortable, inexpensive ($10 a plate), fun, and schedule it so people can relax, win some prizes, find out the results from the first day's fishing," said McDonell. "Tesoro is sponsoring the event as our official Cabo hotel, and Soloman's will be catering. Brian Soloman is excited about showing off his staff's culinary talents. It should be a great event to spend the evening with your team and Mexican crew. We'll have that day's results, some free drawings, and great music. Wristbands will not be required at this 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. event."

McDonell added that this is the premier event of Western Outdoors Publications and the largest jackpot tuna tourney in world, with more money, more teams and more prizes given out each night. Be a part of the fun, the competition, win money and be a star on the two-hour Let's Talk Hookup radio show 1090-AM Saturday morning hosted by Rick Maxa at the Pisces Fleet office on the malecon near the Tesoro Hotel.

Stay tuned for any announcements on the event on the official website (www.loscabostunajackpot.com) or on the pages of Western Outdoor News or Western Outdoors Magazine. You can download the entry form from this website, or you can request one by e-mailing Pat McDonell at pat@wonews.com.
