Marina Cabo San Lucas a key player in success of the Tuna Jackpot after five years.

Marina offers backdrop fir Captains meeting, awards dinner at the Puerto Paraiso Mall!

Marina Cabo San Lucas will continue in its role as one of the most important Tuna Jackpot sponsors as the official weigh-in site for the sixth annual event.

There is no question the facility continues to define the best in marinas in Mexico. Indeed, it rivals the best marinas in North America, continually increasing and upgrading services wherever possible.

The Marina currently has 340 full service slips handling boats up to 200 feet in length. Of these, 99 percent are permanently rented with only a couple of 39-foot slips unoccupied. Moreover, there is a waiting list in all the other slip sizes. As a result, space for guest berthing is at a premium; guest boaters are moored in temporarily unoccupied slips. Although the marina office does not confirm guest reservations (since slip availability is limited to slips whose occupants are temporarily and somewhat unpredictably absent). the Marina management does its level best to accommodate guest boaters, so it is always a good idea to call them in advance.

Knowing what boats will be in Cabo helps them squeeze as many in as possible.†Of course, if you are going to be in Cabo for more than a couple months, it makes economic sense to try to secure a long term slip. Every year a considerable number of boats move from the waiting list to the Marina, so get on the list. A deposit is required.

Once you are actually in the Marina, you can expect to be moored to a first class concrete dock with electrical and water service and cable TV. Incidentally, the water is reverse osmosis water from the Marina's own 50,000-gallon-a-day desalination plant. And the television system has had a rigorous going-over to ensure that everything is in order for the coming season. Electricity is provided in either 110 (30 amps) or 220 (50 amps). 24-hour security is provided by a combination of guards, electronic key card access, and closed circuit TV.

Recently all the restrooms, showers, and laundries were rebuilt and now border on elegant. These services are located in three facilities spread around the marina.

The fuel dock has now been functioning for 2 1/2 years and has become the model for Mexico's regulations concerning fuel docks. Built to both U.S. and Mexican standards, it safely provides high quality Marine Diesel and Gasoline. As an example of the care with which the Marina treats its fuel, Diesel is centrifugally filtered before it is loaded into the fiberglass tanks, monitored for any water or impurities both physically and electronically, and then filtered as it is drawn from the tanks.

The fuel dock has pumps, nozzles, and cam fittings of various sizes and can even fuel mega- yachts at 100 gallons per minute. Significantly, the 70-passenger capacity cruise liners that ply the Baja coast in the winter have made Cabo Marina their fueling stop. The fuel dock accepts MasterCard and Visa and boasts the lowest prices in Baja California. It also has a small convenience store where soft drinks, beer, and boating sundries may be purchased.

In addition, the Marina has a launch ramp and dry storage area, completing the picture of this center of Cabo boating activity. For further information regarding slip availability, fees, and waiting lists call (from the U.S.) 011-52-114-31251.

CABO MARINA is a full-service facility. In addition to the features already mentioned, Cabo Marina is home to Cabo Yacht Center, one of Mexico's leading boatyards, Coast Chandlery, a Southern California-style chandlery and Charter de Los Cabos, a documentation agency that can handle all the paperwork necessaryfor pleasure and charter boats in Mexico.
